What does a feminist art practice look like? What does it look like to build a feminist world?

Glissa is an intimate and transformative workshop centred around the art of collage. This small gathering, led by Moroccan-Pakistani artist and curator nashwa lina khan, invites participants to delve into collage as a feminist practice that honours archives, history, and storytelling. Together, we'll explore how collage can reframe, narrate, and highlight the multi-modal nature of feminist art.

Placing the inherent relationship between art and politics at the forefront, this gathering aims to reckon with the increasing fascism of our times while simultaneously inviting us to envision what a politically committed feminist future looks like. Through layering, cutting, folding, and texturising, participants are encouraged to craft their own renditions of a feminist world.

The workshop is in the spirit of glissa—a term of endearment in Morocco for gathering together. We will celebrate art’s  capacity to be an embodied form of communal healing and joy. In a sense a glissa builds its own small world from start to finish. Through a combination of a talk and hands-on world building, participants will experience a glissa filled with moments of laughter, sharing, and co-creation.

گليسة هي ورشة عمل حميمية وإبداعية تتمحور حول فن التلصيق. بقيادة الفنانة والمنسقة الفنية المغربية الباكستانية نشوى لينا خان، يدعو اللقاء المشاركين إلى استكشاف فن التلصيق كممارسة نسوية ترتكز وتحتفي بالأرشيف والسرد القصصي.

معاً سنكتشف كيف يمكن الفن التلصيقي أن يعيد صياغة وتسليط الضوء على الطبيعة المتعددة الوسائط للفن النسوي.

بناءً على العلاقة المتجذرة بين الفن والسياسة, يهدف هذا التجمع إلى مواجهة تصاعد الفاشية في عصرنا مع دعوتنا في نفس الوقت إلى تصور شكل المستقبل النسوي الملتزم سياسيًا. سيتم تشجيع المشاركين على صياغة نسختهم الخاصة للعالم النسوي عبر التصفيف والقص والتركيب.
