JULIA HOERNER

Exhibition: 2-25 March 1977

Boxes and small paintings by Julia Hoener, covering a three year period in which the artist has been involved in the packaging of time sequences and emotional states. She touches on the theme of emigration as a state of mind as well as a fact (she is a landed immigrant in Quebec,) and several of the boxes include road maps and directional signs. Self-portraits are part of many of the boxes and paintings. The poster for the exhibition shows Hoerner sitting in the palm of her own hand, the place she says she finds the best for viewing one's life.
