Following prolonged closures due to the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, La Centrale’s team reflected on our institution and our responsibility to our community. Following this period of reflection, our reopening became more than simply opening our doors, it was an opportunity to reconnect and recommit to our community. In reopening to the public, 2021-22 also became a year that La Centrale embarked on a larger process of “relance”.
While still at the beginning of this process, the past year was nevertheless marked by important progress: continuing our commitment to artistic programming that dialogues with feminisms and supports intersectionality and social justice, we launched a new online initiative that highlights the works of our Equity-Seeking Committee and revitalized our members’ programming. Extending this commitment to our operations, we initiated a new Co-director structure that allows for more sustainable and equitable governance within our organization.
La Centrale’s Board of Directors and team invite you to join us as we review the past year and discuss upcoming programming at our next general assembly. Taking place on October 18, 2022 at 6 p.m. on Zoom, this annual meeting is an important opportunity to participate in La Centrale’s operations with the elections for our Board of Directors and to take part in reflections and decisions to rethink what a feminist community arts organisation can look like both from the inside and the outside.
