Face by Insoon Ha consists of multiple large-scale digital self-portraits installed on the gallery floor. Visitors who wish to enter the gallery space or take a closer look at the photographs have to walk on the work, inevitably damaging it. Insoon Ha conducts performances of ritual as part of the installation. Through this project Ha examines her conceptual concerns about the intersection of gender with trauma and violence.
Insoon Ha lives and works in Toronto, Canada. She holds both a BFA and MFA from the University of Seoul in Sculpture and a second MFA from the State University of New York at Buffalo in Fine Arts. She is a multidisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, installation and video.
