Description:
This workshop invites participants who are looking for a creative way to deal with difficult emotions through art, specifically through the medium of artist books.
Facilitated by the artist Aaliyah Crawford, the workshop will give participants an overview of book arts, story-telling concepts, and book binding techniques. The workshop will explore how the medium of artist books has been used to process emotions in various art practices. The artist will share their own book-art pieces and discuss how they use this medium in their own personal creative practice to work through difficult emotions and situations.
Together, the artist and participants will explore how each page in an artist book contextualizes the others, and discuss concepts of story-telling. The artist will provide prompts and support for members to create their own book.
Paper, drawing, and writing materials will be provided.
