Art Volt and La Centrale galerie Powerhouse have formed a partnership to support recent alumni of Concordia University’s Faculty of Fine Arts through a Curatorial Residency opportunity.
La Centrale galerie Powerhouse is an artist-run centre dedicated to the dissemination and development of multidisciplinary feminist practices. The centre is committed to supporting artists and artistic practices that are marginalized from dominant cultural institutions, and at various stages of their careers. La Centrale’s programming is in dialogue with feminisms and supports intersectionality and social justice.
If you have any questions about the application process or need specific accommodations to help you succeed in applying, please get in touch with artvolt@concordia.ca.
Program overview
The Curatorial Resident’s chief objective is to research, develop, and execute a window exhibition that responds to and/or is inspired by La Centrale’s institutional archives. Taking place within the context of La Centrale’s 50th anniversary, the Curatorial Resident will be invited to engage with La Centrale’s history as a trailblazing feminist artist-run centre, reflecting not only on the centre’s past, but imagine its future.
The Curatorial Resident will be supported by La Centrale’s Co-director team, who will provide assistance and guidance with concept development, project management, and administrative support. The exhibition will take place in December 2024.
