La Centrale galerie Powerhouse is seeking new members for our Board of Directors!
La Centrale is an artist-run centre dedicated to the dissemination and development of multidisciplinary feminist practices and is committed to supporting artists who are underrepresented in dominant cultural establishments at different stages of their careers. Its programming dialogues with feminisms and supports intersectionality.
The Board of Directors is the governing body of La Centrale. This volunteer position works in a non-hierarchical, collaborative, and feminist environment to oversee the organization and provide support to La Centrale’s coordinating team. We are seeking new Directors who support La Centrale’s mission and vision to commit to a one-year term.
La Centrale galerie Powerhouse has ambitious projects planned for the next few years, including the launch of an online magazine, a relocation project, and our 50th anniversary. We are excited to welcome new members to our Board to help lead the gallery into the future.
Primary Responsibilities:

Provide guidance and oversight to La Centrale’s mission and vision

Attend quarterly board meetings, approximately 2 hours each

Provide occasional support to coordinating team between meetings on an as needed basis

Attend Annual General Meeting in the Fall
-
Option to serve on one or more committees (HR, Fundraising, programing, communication etc.)

These expertise/interests represent a sample of relevant skills and experience. Candidates may possess qualifications that are not included in this list. If you possess qualifications not included in this list, we encourage you to apply. La Centrale wishes to represent a diversity of voices in its structure and in its programming.

In order to be considered eligible, candidates must be members of La Centrale. For more information on membership and how to become a member, click here.
Members who live outside of Montreal, or who are unable to attend in-person meetings are also encouraged to apply. The majority of meetings are held on Zoom.

As a member of the Board, how would integrate intersectional feminist and non-hierarchical values into your work?

Applications submitted before the October 9th deadline will be shared with La Centrale membership ahead of the Annual General Meeting. Interested candidates who do not apply before the deadline, can make a spontaneous candidature during the General Meeting.
2. Attend General Meeting: October 18th, 2022 at 6PM (Zoom)
Elections of the Board members take place at the General Meeting. New Board members are voted on by La Centrale’s membership. Applicants will have the opportunity to present themselves to the membership at the AGM. Both candidates who submitted their application before the October 9th deadline and spontaneous candidates should be prepared to present themselves to La Centrale’s membership.
If you are unable to attend the AGM, please make this clear in your application. Arrangements can be made to have a representative present your application on your behalf.
